His Story

I first met Audrey the summer of 2005 while working at Pineywoods Baptist Camp and she was volunteering there for a week. I distinctly remember one day when I was joking around with a friend, and Audrey overheard it and kept laughing at us. Little did I know that the quiet, shy girl that I made laugh so much would be a permanent part of my life later on.

Flash forward to May 2011... I was a groomsman for a friend's wedding (the same friend that I was talking to when Audrey was laughing at our conversation!) and Audrey was at the same wedding. After the wedding, I joined some old friends for dinner. That meal was rich in conversation and laughter. I messaged Audrey 3 days later, and that really initiated our new friendship.

After Skyping,  chatting, texting, and phone calls, she came up one weekend to my apartment in Dallas, and we had a blast, going to the drive-in movie theater (where we held hands there for the first time ☺) and nice restaurants and watching movies and just enjoying each other's company.  She was going to Alaska at the end of summer, so for the next 5 months our relationship consisted of Skype dates, letter writing, and gift boxes.

When she came back, I couldn’t wait to see her. We met halfway between Gladewater and Henderson at a Wal-Mart in Kilgore, which is where we first kissed as an official couple.  <3

Because of work, we now find ourselves in Dallas, and for over a year we've been dating and spending lots of time with each other. On May 3rd, 2013, we went back to the drive-in movie theater and we held hands again, only this time, there was a ring in my hand…

Her Story

The Pineywoods Era

8-ish years ago at Pineywoods Camp, Jonathan was the funny, friendly guy who everybody loved, and I remember thinking he was cool and wanting to be his friend.  We didn't work any full summers together, but we shared mutual friends and knew of each other through the years.

In May 2011, we both went to a mutual friend's wedding (actually, it was the wedding of the man who will now marry us!). We went to dinner with a group of Pineywoods friends (a few whom were secretly trying to set us up). We ended up hitting it off, and we really got to know each other over the next few months.

The Alaska Era

We officially started dating on 8-8-11, right when I went to Alaska for a semester to live with my sister. During those 5 months, I trudged through the snow to the school (the only place with internet in the village) to have Skype dates with him several times a week, and we wrote lots of letters back and forth. We were falling in love, thousands of miles apart! <3

The Dallas Era

I finally came home around Christmas, and a few months later we both moved to Dallas for jobs. He was my only best friend in the big city, and I grew to appreciate and love him more and more! He spoiled me with fun dates, great restaurants, movie nights, and foot massages while we watched football games (it was the only way he could get me to watch them!) On one of our Friday night dates, we returned to where we had our first date in Dallas, and he popped the question!
